GENERAL
FAQ’s:
What age group is Smart Start Reader
designed for?
The program is designed for grades 3-5 or ages 8-11, but depending on
the learning ability of the student, it can be expanded outside of that
age group.
What
do I need to use Smart Start Reader?
The requirements for the Smart Start Reader program are; an internet enabled
computer, Macromedia
Flash Player 8 (free download), and any version of the corresponding
chapter book. We also recommend headphones if the program will be used
in a classroom setting.
How
do I log into Smart Start Reader?
Go to http://www.smartstartreader.com and click on the login button on
the top right corner of the page. This will direct you to the login page
for the program. Choose the proper login area for your account; either
School or Home.
For instance, if you
are a student using it for school, click on “Student Login”
under “School Access”. If you are a student using the program
for school, even if you are using it at your house, you will still login
using the “School Access” login.
If the program is
something your parents got for you to use only at home, click on the “Child
Login” under “Home Access”.
Teachers login under
“School Access” and parents login under “Home Access”.
What
if I cannot click on the login button on the login page, or it doesn't’t
take me anywhere?
If you click on the login for your area and it doesn't’t do anything,
you will most likely need to update you flash plug-in. With older versions
of flash player, you will be able to see the login but will not be able
to click on it. To fix this, go to http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer
and you can download Flash player version 8 for free. This only takes
a minute or so to install and does not require you to restart your browser
or computer.
What
if I already installed the new version of Flash and when I try to log
in and it still doesn't’t work?
Sometimes when you install a new version of Flash the old version still
takes precedence. To fix this, go to your control panel on your computer
and uninstall the Macromedia Flash player. Once this is complete, you
may go back to the login page on our site and re-install the new version
of Flash player. This should fix the incompatibility problem with the
older version of Flash player.
What
if I tried logging in with the username and password given to me and it
won’t let me in?
Make sure you are spelling the username and password correctly and that
you do not have the caps lock on, as the password is case sensitive. If
you are still having trouble logging in, contact your teacher or parent.
If they cannot resolve the issue, or if you are a teacher or parent with
a login problem, contact our technical support department AFTER you have
tried these options.
